Chengdu is famous for its leisurely and warm temperament. Hot pot, as a part of regional cultural characteristics, is already a synonym of Chengdu - it is not only a food culture, but also a leisure lifestyle. At the end of 2018, muda architects was entrusted by the owner to transform its Yunjing garden hotpot restaurant in Chengdu. The project base is located in the outskirts of Chengdu, known as "Chengdu green lung", with unique natural conditions and ecological resources. Taking this opportunity, muda hopes to integrate hotpot culture with the natural environment, stay away from the noise, and create a personalized dining place that respects the original ecology and conforms to the modern consumption mode in the quiet corner of a prosperous city.

Yunjing garden hotpot restaurant base is surrounded by a lotus pond, hidden in a forest. Muda decided to take the maximum respect for the natural environment of the site as the design premise, clear up the building scale, omit the wall language, only use columns and boards to hide in the forest, let the building gently integrate into the site, outline the boundary of the lake water, light and quiet.

The building stands along the lake, like a hot pot rising in the forest, giving people a sense of floating. The vertical thin columns are evenly distributed on both sides of the roof, and the free curve of the roof forms a number of transparent viewfinder frames, which change scene step by step and frame a wide field of vision. The platform at the bottom is completely consistent with the roof curve, echoing each other, showing the consistency and integrity of the space.

The total length of the building is 290 meters, the net height is 3 meters, and the width changes with the surrounding natural environment. The bottom platform floor is made of anticorrosive wood, the top roof is made of galvanized steel plate, the surface is sprayed with white fluorocarbon paint, clean and pure, complementing the surrounding lush environment. The 88mm diameter steel column is used as the supporting structure of the building. From a distance, it is integrated with the straight eucalyptus tree trunk around and hidden in the nature. A wooden fence is built on the side of the lake for tourists to stop and enjoy. In the lake, the water lily floats and ripples move. The low railings blur the boundary between the building space and the lake water, making people closer to nature.
