Sealant can be divided into three categories: elastic sealant, liquid gasket and sealing putty.

 

According to the classification of chemical composition, it can be divided into rubber type, resin type, oil-based type and natural polymer sealant. This classification method can be used to predict the sealing property of polymer materials and their adaptability to various media.

 

Rubber type: this kind of sealant is based on rubber. Commonly used rubber are polysulfide rubber, silicone rubber, polyurethane rubber, neoprene and butyl rubber.

 

Resin type: this kind of sealant is based on resin. Common resins include epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, phenolic resin, polyacrylic acid resin, PVC resin, etc.

 

Oil based type: this kind of sealant is based on oil. Commonly used oils include various vegetable oils such as flax oil, castor oil and tung oil, as well as animal oil, such as fish oil, etc.

 

According to the classification of application occasions, it can be divided into high temperature resistant type, cold resistant type, pressure resistant type, etc.

 

According to the classification of film forming properties, it can be divided into dry adhesion type, dry peelable type, non dry adhesion type and semi dry viscoelastic type, which is also the commonly used classification of sealant in China.

 

According to the use classification, it can be divided into construction sealant, vehicle sealant, insulation sealant, packaging sealant, mining sealant and other types.

 

According to the performance classification after construction, it can be divided into two types: curing type sealant and semi curing type sealant. Among them, curing type sealant can be divided into rigid and flexible type. The solid formed after curing or solidification of rigid sealant is rarely elastic and cannot be bent, and the joint is usually immovable; flexible sealant has elasticity and softness after curing. The non curing sealant is a kind of soft setting sealant, which keeps the non drying tackifier moving to the surface state after construction.
